When Matt Gauck's looking for inspiration, he just searches something like “bears” in Google 'image search' and seeing all the hunters posing next to bears they’ve shot and killed, is enough to enrage him into working immediately.

Our 2015 Vegan Art Calendar was sold in aid of the Hillside Animal Sanctuary in the UK and included the work of 12 artists from around the world.

‘Shark Nymph’ was the first illustration Jade did for her project ‘I don´t Eat Grass. ‘Shark Nymph’ is part of the first volume dedicated to sea animals such as tuna, dolphins, whales and sharks which are threatened by fishing and sea pollution.

Karen uses many images from Buddhism and Hinduism in order to pay homage to these religions which honor the sacredness of all life. Hinduism especially has many animal gods. The image of Ganesha is one she has found fascinating for a long time. Ganesha is a Hindu deity represented as having a human body with the head of an elephant. Ganesha represents the principle qualities of an elephant which are wisdom and effortlessness. Elephants don’t walk around obstacles. They remove them and keep walking straight on, signifying effortlessness. For this reason, Ganesha is often referred to as Lord of Obstacles. Ganesha removes any obstacles and enables us to succeed.

Andrew considers ‘A Vegetarian at Christmas’ to be his most important piece because, surprisingly, he sees it as a self-portrait. The ‘vegetarian’ in the title is the young turkey sitting underneath the table playing with his toy humans whilst the rest of his family gleefully anticipate the carnage of their dinner. Until Andrew was 7 years old, and his parents had an epiphany, he was that young turkey: uncomprehending, unable to eat something that he could have made friends with.
