In Monica Garone's 'Foie Gras' (acrylic on wood) she uses the cartoon style with an ironic key, stinging and ruthless - to denounce animal exploitation and she does so by putting the viewer in front of a mirror, creating fictional worlds in which she reverses the situation and where the animals almost always have the edge over the humans. The wickedness of her animals is nothing more than a reflection of who we are. we're forced to perceive the freedom inside a cage of conditioned habitat perhaps a mirror that reverses roles is enough to drag our smug ignorance in front of the reality of an horizon betrayed due to guilty blindness

Francisco's painting 'Sacred Cow' depicts a Hereford cow , where the image is 'taped' in order to show that all cows are sacred, not just those who were lucky enough to be born in India.

"Sacred Cow" was a hard painting to make... many corrections, many layers, many restless hours, but in the end it was a very satisfactory piece. Some time later, I organized an exhibition at a local vegan restaurant, and when I was arriving, the owner of the place told me "please, tell me you brought the cow". It seems this painting was already well known on Facebook... Finally he bought this painting and now the cow lives happily on the walls of the restaurant."

Francisco describes the project, "In Arte Animal, we want to reflect the human-animal relationship through art, focusing primarily on animal rights such as the right to life and death with dignity, respect for the natural habitat of animals, the right not to be exploited and be used as food, means of transportation, clothing, experimentation, etc."

Francisco also designed our Art of Compassion Project logo which symbolises our mission - equality and compassion for all animals.

Kit Jagoda's ‘Life’ series are spontaneous pieces that show the random imagery and ideas she thinks about, integrated with the life on their sanctuary (www.riverswishanimalsanctuary.org) Kit says, "This painting is a stream of thought that portrays what life is like at their sanctuary with animals here, there, sometimes everywhere. It is playful, colorful and reflects the texture of living here. It allows me to stream over into the abstract a little bit without having to ask myself ‘is this working?’ but instead, to narrate through color and imagery, what words cannot convey."
