Leigh Sanders

Costa Brava, Catalonia

AoCP FOUNDER & PROJECT MANAGER

Leigh founded The Art of Compassion Project in 2014 out of her love for art and desire to effect change for animals. Due to physical disability, Leigh had to get creative with her advocacy efforts, one thing leading to another until the AoCP was born.

Leigh’s dream is for the AoCP to become a collaboration between animal advocacy artists worldwide and to support as many nion-profit vegan organisations as poissible in the years to come.

Born and raised in South Africa, Leigh now lives with her Catalan husband on the beautiful Costa Brava, where the light and colors of the Mediterranean never fail to inspire her and make her soul sing. Leigh is the co-creator of the book ‘Art of Compassion‘, a coffee table vegan art book in aid of Veganuary and a set of animal oracle cards, sold in aid of VegfestUK.

Leigh’s true passions are this ever-growing project and her own creative expressions. Her abstract paintings are influenced by colour, light, and movement—depicting what she feels rather than what she sees.  She is also a keen junk journal creator, using hand-dyed fabric, paper and lots of stitching.
