Bonnie Leeman (b. 1990) is a British artist who lives in the Midlands, UK. As a child she always had a natural flair for drawing but she mainly improved her skills by copying movie posters and filling giant drawing pads with her creations. Art was her favourite subject at school and she always had lots of pets at home to draw. In her early 20s she combined her love of animals and art by doing pet portraits on commission.
She graduated as a mature student with a degree in Fine Art in 2019. She has been vegan since 2014 and this led her to creating work around the topic of animal exploitation particularly in the food industry. Her dark paintings she made for the project ‘Mind over Meat’ confronted the viewer with their food choices using materials such as broken mirrored glass – literally putting the onlooker into the painting. Bonnie created a ‘Vegan’ logo t-shirt which she has sold along with prints at vegan art fairs and has made artwork highlighting the issue of forest fires. She also paints candle jars with glass paints to give as gifts and also loves embellishing and painting denim jackets.
Available for commissions.
