Lisa Goldberg is an artist-illustrator with a background in architecture. She works in a variety of traditional mediums, as well as Procreate, and often combines the two. She is captivated by the intersection of figurative and abstract work, and by the ways images and words can come together to tell a story.
Her passion is creating artwork to raise awareness of the suffering of non-human animals in our world, and how we humans inevitably make choices every day that either aggravate or alleviate that suffering. Her goal always is to portray each animal as an individual with their own interests and reasons for being.
Her hope is that her work will help viewers see that every animal raised for food, science, or entertainment has the same capacity to either thrive or suffer that humans and their beloved companion animals do. Her bigger hope is that as people’s eyes are opened to this truth, their choices will begin to reflect this awareness, and our world will become a kinder place for all. Lisa is the illustrator of two children’s books: Sadie’s Shabbat Stories by Melissa Stoller, and Teddy by Willie Devargas. She lives on the Lower East Side of New York City with her husband, daughter, and two spoiled cats.
Lisa is available for commissions.
