The Art of Compassion Project is committed to preserving the privacy of the visitors to our website www.artofcompassionproject.com in accordance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations).  This policy explains what happens to any personal data you provide when subscribing to our newsletter or contacting us via email. Leigh-Ann Sanders, the founder of The Art of Compassion Project, is the Data Controller and is responsible for your personal data (referred to as ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ in this privacy policy). We collect and use information about you that is often private in nature.

General statement of handling policies

We respect your right to privacy and we recognise the trust you are placing in us through your dealings with us. As such we do everything we can to maintain that trust. Our team is involved on the basis that they will protect information about you. This is our personal standard.  Under law, your rights to privacy are also protected. The law places strict requirements on us to treat any information you give us as confidential. The information you provide remains private and is only used for the purposes outlined below.  

What information we collect & why we collect it

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter via the subscription form on our website we will collect your name and email address via Mailchimp (who are GDPR compliant – read their Privacy Policy here) which will be used to send you a monthly newsletter. The information we collect, whether you’re subscribing to our newsletter via the website, or sending us an email, is always treated as strictly confidential and is never disclosed to a third party unless required by law. We never nor will we ever make our database available to other organisations.  

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How this information is held

The security of your information is important to us. We use Mailchimp to send our email newsletters and any personal information disclosed to the contractor remains confidential to us.

Opting out of further correspondence

If you do not wish to receive any further newsletters from The Art of Compassion Project, you will be given the opportunity to make this election each time a newsletter is sent to you, or you may contact us directly to cancel any further communications at leigh@artofcompassionproject.com  

How you can access and correct the information held

It is our policy to give access to subscribers to the information we hold on them. This is consistent with our commitment to transparency and as such, you may access your information at any time by simply contacting us at leigh@artofcompassionproject.com. If you discover your information is incorrect, incomplete or out of date please notify us and we will try to correct or add the information as soon as possible.  

Complaint and dispute resolution procedures

If you believe we have breached your privacy rights in any way, or you would like to discuss any issues about our privacy policy please contact us at leigh@artofcompassionproject.com so that we can rectify the issue as quickly as possible.
